Why a kanga?

The benefits for both parent and baby.

Using the Kanga means that you and your baby are always close together. The Kanga recreates an environment like the womb. Your baby can hear your heartbeat, smell your scent and wiggle along with your movement. They feel at home, at ease and safe while they can discover the world around them from within this safe environment. They will be much more confident and be able to connect to you easier and quicker.

Using the Kanga you will get used to eachother much quicker because you are so close together. In a natural way you will grow close to one another. This can be a great advantage for parents with adopted children because they often need a longer bonding time.

When used well, the weight of the child is very well divided over your body. The Kanga divides the weight of the child over your shoulders, back and hips and does not have straining straps.

A great benefit to the mother is the ease of breast-feeding while the child is in the Kanga. Away from home and in public you can still have the intimacy for breast-feeding. Research has shown that the mothering hormone “progesterone” increases due to physical contact with the infant and that the breasts respond to the infants needs. This means easier breast-feeding, much improved milk supply and increased duration of breastfeeding.

Our Kanga allows you to carry your baby in many different ways and there is no need to move to a bigger size as the baby grows – saving you a lot of money in the long run. The Kanga is big and stretchy enough to support babies of different sizes. The various positions allow you to carry your baby in different ways in front of your stomach, on your back or on your hips. Using a regular modern carrier you have at the most two different ways to carry and you will have to go for a bigger size as your baby grows.

Research has shown that babies carried in a sling are calmer. They cry and fuss 43% less overall and 51% less during the evening hours, because all their primal and survival needs have been met. Because babies cry less they have much more time to spend on looking around and exploring our daily routines. This will help them learn faster. With the baby closer to you it is exposed more to conversation, our social behaviour and facial expressions, which will increase the speech, their social development and familiarize them faster with our body language.

Our Kanga even supports a method that allows you to carry your twins with you. When they are still very small you can carry a baby in each one of the pieces of cloth going across your chest. This means one baby on your left side and one on your right, close enough together to feel safe with one another and feel safe with you.

Infants are more organized because parental rhythms (walking, heartbeat, etc.) have a balancing and soothing effect on the child.

Aggression is diminished because they feel loved and more secure of themselves.

The movement in the Kanga easily puts your baby happily and peacefully to sleep."
